Digger day for Grange Pre-school

Grange digger day

Over the past 12 months the children at Grange Pre-School, overlooking the works at Grange, had become increasingly intrigued as they watched the comings and goings of the diggers and crane activities on site. It was with great excitement that they learned that Sam Maidment had organised a Digger Day for them to get up close to an actual ‘digger’.

The day came and the children all aged three years old and under, arrived with great trepidation and a parent in tow. Read more >> about Digger day for Grange Pre-school

‘Grow Your Own’ learning and demonstration garden benefits from KMI’s help

Raised beds made with recycled scaffolding boards

A grow your own scheme run by Emerge 3Rs who promote reduce, re-use, recyle has been given a boost by KMI. As a member of the National Industrial Symbiosis Programme (NISP), KMI was contacted to see if we had any redundant scaffolding planks to help to raise some garden beds to allow better access for wheelchair users.

As it happened there were planks which had passed their best but were fine to help the group to raise the beds and even build a bench for the volunteers and participants to have lunch on.

Martin Spencer, KMI's Environmental Manager says, “Both NISP and EMERGE are fantastic organisations whose aims are to develop and promote sustainable solutions. It is great that through these networks we can help those who are less fortunate than us and at the same time help to divert waste from landfill.” Read more >> about ‘Grow Your Own’ learning and demonstration garden benefits from KMI’s help
