Gold Glory for Keswick

Members of the Keswick project team attended a prestigious ceremony in Swindon on Monday 24 June to find out exactly what level of Green Apple Award they had won.  The project was shortlisted on 11 April, announced as a winner on 23 April and then the wait began to see if they would receive the bronze, silver or gold accolade. The fantastic news is that they won a GOLD International Green Apple Award for the Built Environment.

United Utilities project manager Simon Povey said everyone on the scheme was delighted, and he paid thanks in particular to KMI who have been carrying out the works within the town. The project was picked out of more than 200 nominations to be awarded their Green Apple success.

Simon Povey, Caroline Brumwell and Chris Sellick travelled to the ceremony to pick up the award and certificate from Doreen Lawrence, the successful campaigning mother of murder victim Stephen Lawrence.

Process Alliance General Manager, Damian Hackett sent his congratulations; “I am extremely proud of the team not only for winning this award, but for the way they have conducted themselves in Keswick.  The number of WOW awards that they have received and the praise from the local community has been amazing.  This award is the icing on the cake.  Congratulations to all the team, this is really so well deserved”.

The Green Apple Awards are supported by the Environment Agency, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management and other independent bodies.
